Thrust Pilot®, brings new installation option to the market
Colchester, 22 June 2016, Hush Craft is a new provider of electric & hybrid propulsion solutions to the leisure and commercial market. The team has today agreed the first installation of its Thrust Pilot® (patent pending).
This system is specifically designed for retrofitting on existing vessels and in one pod, built off the boat, the Hush Craft Thrust Pilot® can include power steering, motor, batteries, controls, charger and even a generator for 100% redundancy.
Managing Director Ben Simpson says “the benefits of hybrid and electric propulsion systems are well-known, but our solution will bring these benefits to the end users in a neat package that reduces the cost of installation. Our focus is on minimising intrusive works or modifications inside the vessel by simplifying the installation for retrofit. This also makes it more affordable for the boat owner”.
Designed around a boat’s typical usage, the solution allows normal operation of the vessel offshore at high speed. It can then seamlessly transfer to and from electrical propulsion when the vessel reaches estuaries, rivers or lakes with speed restrictions.
Broom 395 owner, Mr Karim, explains, “Hush Craft have come up with a sympathetic and effective approach to a perennial problem. Previously we thought we would have to change our vessel in order to have a hybrid solution installed. This approach makes sense and has reduced the perceived costs considerably’.
Thrust Pilot® technology and Hush Craft experience benefit owners who want their boats to combine sea-going oomph with quiet, excellent manoeuvrability on inland or coastal waterways.
The Hush Craft team can install a hybrid system that is not only kind to the vessel and complimentary of the systems already in place, but takes just a few days working on board.
The company covers all aspects of installation and more importantly the compatibility. So Hush Craft technology provide leisure and commercial boat owners with quiet, green cruising and excellent manoeuvrability, whilst preserving the main propulsion systems from long-term idling and inefficient speeds.
Benefits include:
- ϖ 100% redundancy of propulsion and steerage
- ϖ Silent, efficient cruising
- ϖ Zero emissions whilst under electric propulsion
- ϖ Directional thrust for improved manoeuvrability
- ϖ Prolonged service requirements on main engines
- ϖ Reduced sooting-up on main engines
- ϖ Fuel savings
- ϖ Additional domestic battery life if required
